Hellosissimooooo,                                                                    Monday March 23, 2015

Come state?!  This week was STELLAR. Come sempre.  Today for y'all I have a funny story, a miracle (there were several this week but I’ll share the coolest one) and some info about mission conference!  Put on your seatbelts, it’s gonna be a good one.

Starting with the funny story.  This story occurred right after the miracle. We were riding home in a bus, and it was like 1:30ishhh.  It was Sorella Mazzarella’s six month mark.  We were nearing home when we saw a sign for Aushuan, this super duper huge store that we heard has Oreos.  We made a split second decision and decided to hop off the bus for two seconds to check for some Oreos to celebrate Sorella M’s 6 months.  We ran in the Aushuan and only saw a bunch of little restaurants, no grocery stores.  Confused, we looked around and saw an elevator.  We assumed that the grocery store was probably the level above.  However, the elevator wasn’t working.  No problem, we just decided to take the stairs.  We opened the door to the staircase, and as we went in, just as the door was closing, I noticed something interesting...there wasn’t a handle on the back of the door.  "No problem," I thought, we'll just catch the handle on the door up the stairs.  But...there wasn’t one! haha.  The only door with a way out was one on the third floor that looked like it was alarmed.  So, we were stuck in this staircase.  Being a claustrophobic person...that wasn’t the funniest thing ever....haha.  We started banging on the door and saying, "ci scusi" but no one heard us. So, we did the only thing left to do....we prayed.  After the prayer, I decided it was about time to just try the door that looked like it might be alarmed.  I pushed that thing open like it was no big deal.  BOOM.suuuuperrr loud alarms started going off. We opened the door into this parking lot on the roof and a million people were looking at us like we were literally nuts.  I looked at Sorella Mazarella and she turned completely white. We were just standing there, wondering what the heck to do, with this super loud alarm shrilling in our ears.  We expected the Italian SWAT team to come out at any moment and tackle us to the ground, skirts and all.  However, luckily Italy is the chillest country in the world.  This nice lady who had just finished parking her car told us it was no big deal.  We went back inside the building and told this guy who worked there we set off the alarm and he looked at us with this expression like, "and you’re telling me this because...?" He didn’t care at all. So it ended up working out pretty well haha.  I was shaking for like 2 hours though. Also don’t worry, we got the Oreos. I forgot how yummy those things are!

Mission conference:  SUPER GOOD! Our schedule for mission conference went like this...
Thursday night:  take the boat
Friday morning:  get off the boat, drive to conference (45 min), get there just in time to sit down
Friday: conference
Friday after the conference:  drove quickly to the ferry, hopped back on the boat, slept.
Saturday morning:  finally made it back to Calgliari.
It was crazy!  So much traveling.  The boat was really cool.  Not exactly like the Disney cruise.  There were definitely no cool folded towel animals but it was fun comunque.  We brought dinner and ate on the boat.  Then we played this game as a zone.  (Our whole zone of 16 missionaries was on the boat with us.)  It was coooollll.  I slept pretty well.
The conference was great.  Really, really great. Elder Teixeira is a really awesome person.  His wife is stellar as well.  Together they taught us mostly just to talk to everyone!!!!!  It was kind of like listening to a really good pump up song before a race.  I’m SO READY to race for the rest of my mission.  Also Presidente Dinicaci was at the conference.  He testified about how much the gospel has blessed his family.  I love these people!  I want them to have the knowledge I have!  I love being able to talk to them, get to know them, and help them know that God loves them.  This is the best opportunity ever!

The miracle.  This week we went out to try and see a less active in this small little city by Cagliari.  We had never met this lady before but vescovo told us to go see her....we tried to call her but she never answered.  Finally we just decided to take a morning and go.  It was actually the place I got my foot taken care of, and we knew a member who lived there too who was having a birthday that week so we took her a chocolate bar before we saw the less active.  The member ended up telling us all about the less active, including that her husband in the past had been very against the church, and that he wasn’t very nice.  We decided to go anyway.  We walked to her house and pressed the citofono.  I looked over to my left and there was a man entering the building, for some reason, I just felt like I should talk to him.  So I asked him if he could let us in the building because we had something we wanted to bring his neighboor, Marinella Lampis.  He said yes and let us in.  As we were riding up the elevator he turned to us and said "so, you guys are mormons, right?" we were like "yeah, how do you know?"  Then he said, "because my wife is Marinella Lampis."  Ahh.  We were scared, but he ended up being reeeeeaaally nice!  Super dry sense of humor but nice the same.  He not only let us in but told us we could stay and visit, and that we could come back.  It was super cool!!!!!!!  It was amazing that we happened to be entering the building at the exact same time as he was, and that we got to get to know him.  The Lord guides His work!

All in all this week was great.  I’m excited to keep working and to be better every day.  I love these people, I love this city, and I love being a missionary.  Keep rocking everyone.  Heavenly Father loves us!!
