Hey everyone, Monday,
February 09, 2015
I hope you all had a great February 7th,
also known as WART DAY. It only comes around once a year, so if you didn’t
take good enough advantage of it...repent.
But seriously, on February 7th I got that wart on my foot
removed. They burned that baby off! ewww
hahaha It was THE NASTIEST THING EVER. They numbed my foot and that was
that part that hurt.....quite a bit. haha. A nice lady from the ward is a
dermatologist and she performed the procedure. She was like, "You
can swear if you want, we don’t speak English." I made it out of there
without swearing, but it was a close call! (Note from DaLene: Katie has
never, not once, sworn in her life.) However,
the WART IS GONE. They used this little wart burning stick and burned it
right off. Now I have a crater in my foot.....haha not really but there
is a little hole. It was hard to walk for two days but I’m feeling much better
now! So yay, now every February 7th will be known as
"Wart day" from here on out. whooo hooooooo. What an adventure
this whole mission thing is.
Other than that we just worked hard this week!!
I wanna tell you about the people that we’re teaching. Also mom...I’m SO
SORRY but I forgot my camera this week. so... no pics.... but I’m gonna write
down your requests and get pics of all of them. Except the beach because
I haven’t even seen it yet :( :( I WANNA
GO. Hopefully I’ll get there soon. Also I’m glad everyone liked the
video. The deal is that if the video is too big it won’t send...so I just
have to figure out exactly how long it can be....or I can make two different
videos and send them. Ill figure it out. I have some reeeeeally
funny videos. Well at least they are funny to me...
Alrighty, here are the people that we are
working with! I’m really, really happy with how things have been
going. When I got here we didn’t have a lot of people to work with...but we’ve
been working like mad women and we have a lot of great people!
Walter & Salvetore: These guys we met in the park the other week. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. Walter used to be a race car driver. He showed us trophies and stuff like that, so crazy. Anyway, they came up to us in a park and we have been teaching them ever since. They are SO COOl. At the last appointment we walked up and Walter wanted to pray and everything. He was so excited to hear what we had to teach for the day. He says it all just make sense and said he felt so good when he was reading to Book of Mormon. They are SO cute and cool. They are old so I’m allowed to say they are cute haha.
Gabriella: She’s from English course. We had a
lesson with her and she asked us all these really deep questions. She is
really searching for answers! She has read and studied all the stuff we
have given her to read and study. She’s really cute.
Rita: Super bouncy and bubbly. She owns a
store nearby and we go and teach her there...which isn’t the most effective
teaching place but va bene. She’s a super funny person. Spazy would
be a good word too. Guess she kind of reminds me of myself hehe.
Anna Loi: She hasn’t been to church in forever but when we
visited her, me and her just clicked really well, kinda like we have been
friends forever. So we have high hopes with her! Members have offered to pick her up because
she lives far away so we are super hoping she can get to church soon. She’s really cool. I called her to set
up an appointment last night and we just talked about random stuff for like 5
minutes. She’s just a really, really good
person.
Roberta: The second person I’ve ever known
named Roberta! She’s about 50 and is a referral from a
member. We kept having lessons with her in a car...blehhh NOT GOOD but we
finally came up with a way to get her to come to the church haha so that will
be way better. She’s always shocked that we can know the Book of Mormon is
true! So we are helping her know that SHE can know too.
Rafella: She’s been an off and on simp. of the sorelle
since 2005! but she’s way cool. I’m pretty sure she knows the church is
true, she’s just hesitant. It’s really hard for people here because the
culture is soooo Catholic. To make a change and not be Catholic anymore is just
really, really hard for them to imagine, even if they haven’t been to the Catholic
church in a really long time.
Some members.....
Fratello Anchis: the ward
mission leader. He cracks me UP. ugh I don’t know how to describe
him but he is just the funniest guy. He’s in his 60’s...kinda reminds me
of grandpa Brunson a little bit actually. He is studying to be a lawyer
and we talked about mock trial for like 15 min the other day. He thought
it was cool.
Sannas: we go to the house
for pranzo every Thursday and then help their daughter with English. SHE IS THE BEST COOK EVER (besides you mom).
ahhhhh I literally DIE when I eat her food it’s sooo good. She reminds me of grandma Ottley. She pretty much is the Italian version of grandma
Ottley and she is married to this super funny fratello from the bishopric. They help us a ton.
From English course...
Rachele and Sofia: around our same age. They are super cool and
we help them with English. I think that Sofia is interested in the Book
of Mormon but her parents really don’t like Mormons so that’s a bummer but the
girls are fun and Rachele has A TON of energy. She reminds me of Amanda a
lot.
Ok, that’s what I have for now. I hope
everyone isn’t bored to death. I LOVE these people. I’ll write more
about some others as the weeks go on.
I’m trying to think of a funny story from this
week... I didn’t do a good job of writing stuff down. One cool thing is
that I found a house of a less active solely from using a map! Which for
all of you who know me and my problems with being directionally challenged know
that’s pretty cool. Then we got to the house and Sorella Mazzarella
realized she had already been there before haha but it’s all good.
I hope everyone has a great Valentine’s Day! Sorella Mazz and I are having ourselves a nice
romantic Valentine’s Day pranzo. This lady gave us steak so we are eating
steak, green beans, potatoes, and stuff like that. YAY.
Also this week I watched this
movie in our apartment about Thomas S. Monson. Did you know he is the
coolest man ever? My goodness. he really has lived a life full of
service for others. What a good example!!!!!!! I think missionaries
are so happy because it’s all about service here too. My heart is so full
with love for these little short Sardanians!!!!!!!!!
Have a great week. Fall in love for Valentine’s
Day or something.
Sorella Brunson
