Tedesco is the Key!
Hey family!
Ok so I had my weekly email ready to go and
then it got deleted and I am SUPER duper low on time. Sorry! A quick
email is all I can do for this week.
Cool story though. This week we went to the
questura AGAIN (for papers so Sorella Embley can stay in the country). Sorella
Embley and I were dreading it but it was actually a rather nice experience. This guy knew the missionaries and let us go
first so we were in and out of there in only an hour and a half! whoop doggie. After that I was feeling
the urge to get a granita. I know what
you’re thinking...of COURSE you were feeling an urge to get a granita.
hahaha. But I kid you not, I
really felt like I should get a granita. On the way back from the questura there is
this super awesome granita shop called Tedescos. EVERYONE in Messina goes
to Tedescos for granitas and the owners are super nice people. They own three granita shops in Messina. So
we decided we should stop by and grab a granita. We walked up to order
and this lady is like, "Hello! You’re
sister missionaries, I want to come to you church."
No, I’m not lying.
It happened just like that.
And we were like "uhhhh ok sweet, where
do you live?"
And she was like. "via bonino" and
we were like "NO WAY that’s the street the church is on!"
Then she said, I wanna come , but I can’t because
I have to work Sunday mornings."
But we totally got her number and are going to teach her about the
church.
Three cool things about this:
1) She gave me a free granita.
2) The people that ask US to teach them
ALWAYS progress and
3) She is part of the family of people that
own Tedesco. Just THINK if she becomes a member of the church. I kid you not
people, we could convert the entire town of Messina. Like no joke. Think
of it. All the locals come to get the daily granita from Tedesco, and
Pinna (that’s the lady’s name) is just handing out mormon.org cards
with every granita. I’m telling you…this city is gonna be the next one taken up
to heaven if we can baptize Pinna from Tedseco!
So that was cool.
ALSO in church this week it was a total party
because our investigator Abigail came who is super duper cute. She is 15 and her Grandma’s sister is a member
of the church here in Messina. ALSO we got to teach the YW lesson because
there wasn’t a teacher. So we talked
with all the young women about the difficulties of being a member of the church
in Italy as a teenager, but why it’s worth it. SO SICK.
ALSO Naleen, the person the sister’s baptized
right before we came to Messina, came to church. Finally! What a party.
The work is going really good. We are
seeing lots of members this week and hoping to help teach their friends (duh
haha). We are stoked to work hard with the members and see millions of
miracles and eat millions of granitas this next transfer. Plus I love
Sorella Embley. We laugh every day.
Did you know missionary work is SO FUN?
I wish I had more time but like I
said.....this dumb ipad erased all my stuff so...yeah. Better email
coming your way next week.
Just know that life is good in Sicily.
I can’t wait to stay here the next six weeks now that summer is almost over so
we can really dig down and WORK. Man there is nothing better than the mission.
I love you all!
Vi voglio bene!
Sorella Brunson
