How are you all doing today? This week went super well. We worked super hard. It was super hot. I'm super happy.
A funny
story. This week we had to go to the
questura office and we had to wait for....I kid you not.... five hours to do some
fingerprints so Sorella Embley doesn't get thrown out of the country. While waiting for the five hours this guy
comes in with this dog that was super cute. Of course everyone in the permesso
office had to pet this dog. After a while the dog started sneezing. There was air
conditioner in the questura. The owner of the dog hears his dog sneeze and is
like, "oh it's colpa d'aria from the air conditioner" and he took his
dog out. Watch out, even animals aren't exempt!
Also another
funny story. We were walking home and as
I approached the front entrance to our apartment building our landlord happened
to be standing out there. He was like,
"ummm Sorella, you don't live here..." I of course pulled it off
super well and was like, "don't worry landlord, I was just testing
you...." Hahaha.
Another random story because GUYS I've been writing these emails for a year and I'm just done with structure haha. Sorella Embley was walking this week and she LITERALLY had to move and walk around a Pigeon because it wouldn't move out of her way. Pigeons.
This Sunday was fast Sunday and church was way good. The microphone was being weird though and it didn't work unless you spoke into it with your hands by your sides. It was fantastic trying to see those cute Italians try to talk with their hands down by their sides. Hehe. Watch out, I'm gonna come home with serious hand issues because those babies just move on their own now.
This week my wonderful companion also reminded me that it's impossible to tell if Italians are yelling or not. We were walking by two people talking about shopping or something like that. She was like, "woah Sorella Brunson, what are those two ladies yelling about?" And I was like, "Oh she's just talking about how this morning she went shopping and now she's going home to eat lunch." Hahahahha So great.
Another sweet thing. Sorry but the Brunson family will only be able to fully appreciate this. Last week we were sitting in church and this lady came up to me before sacrament meeting and was like, "the music leader isn't here this week. You're a Mormon girl from America so you can do it right?" We are new in the ward so of course I didn't say no. The woman showed me the hymns and watched me as I practiced for a second. She looked at me skeptically and was like, "but....you have done this before....right...?" I assured her I had majestically led the hymns at a stake personal progress awards dinner only three short years ago. I lead all the hymns for sacrament meeting and the last hymn we had to sing acapella....so that was just a total disaster. Needless to say, the music leader wasn't there again this week.....but it wasn't me leading the music hahahha.
This week we did a scambio with the Sorelle in Siracusa. It was fantastic. I was with Sorella Furia! Rewind back to my first scambio in the mission when I was a wee little greenie. It was with her! I remember I was soooo scared because I was going to have to speak Italian for 24 hours. This time I was soooo stoked to get to speak Italian with her and see her again! It was way fun. We met someone from Afghanistan too so that was crazy. He was really cool. It was a fun scambio but so hot. You know that feeling when you open up an oven and all that hot air rushes into your face? That's what happens when we step out of our apartment. We (literally) thank Heavenly Father every day for our air conditioning and cold showers.
Cool spiritual story and them I'm gonna go ‘cause we have to go to Catania today for zone conference tomorrow. Last Sunday we brought a member with us to go try and teach two appointments and both of them fell through so we were super bummed. The next day was pday. We had one hour to do some finding before we were supposed to be with Namile and Kushan from the ward for FHE. We prayed that morning that we would be able to teach a lesson during that hour. During pday we hung out with an awesome member who’s 17. As we were walking back to her house towards the end of pday we ran into an English course student. He has a shop right by the house of the member we were with! He invited us in and we ended up teaching him and his mom a lesson! With a member! It was soooo cool! Prayer works. Also this week Sorella Embley testified of the Book of Mormon and the spirit was so strong. She's the coolest.
