This city is so cool and life is so great!
There is just so much to talk about and life was
so crazy this last week. We received our transfer calls so we spent Saturday saying
goodbye to everyone in Cagliari. Then
Monday morning Sorella Vasilachi left. I
spent pday with Sorella Bray playing tennis. Tuesday I said goodbye to Rina, awww Rina. She is so cute! Then we went to district meeting. The rest of the day we wrote down notes for
the new Sorelle to know! You guys
Cagliari is huge. It was crazy trying to write everything down. Then I had to
pack as well. Bleehhhh. I had so much stuff. After six months it all adds up.
We went to English course and I said goodbye to everyone. This is the basic course
that I taught alone. We got to know each other super, duper well. It was so sad to say goodbye!!!!!!!! It was a
little bit heartbreaking.
Then I left Cagliari! Ugh I was so sad to leave! You guys I just gotta say that leaving
Cagliari really showed me how much I love these people. It amazes me. But I guess when you pray for people and try
to help them for six months, it gets pretty hard to say goodbye. I'm thankful for this city that at times was
sooooooo hard but ended up being the place where I learned so much. The mission really teaches you how to love. And that's just about all you need in life. Is
Love!!!!!!!!!! Man I miss Cagliari.
HOWEVER Messina is fantastic. So fantastic. On Wednesday night we flew out of Cagliari
and arrived in Rome. I stayed in the Rome house where there were seriously like
five million Sorelle and I got to see all my friends. Soooo sweet. The next morning I went to
the train station at 5 in the morning and my greenie was there!!!! You guys,
she's the best person ever and I'm so happy to be her companion!
Whooooo whooooo. My companion is Sorella Embley.
She's from Layton, Utah and is so sweet. She already speaks the language so well and is
a total boss. We got on a train and stayed on that train from 7:30 until
3:30..... Ahhhh hahha. You can't pick where you sit on the train. I ended up
sitting with 5 men.... So that was kind of interesting. But we had a wonderful gospel conversation so
that was cool! Now, you might be asking yourselves,
"but Sister Brunson, Sicily is an island! How did you take a train
there?" Good question. The train
got on a boat! Woah. Seriously. So that was cool. We finally arrived in Messina and went
straight to English course! This city is
a lot smaller than Cagliari. There are
about 40 or 50 members at church and about 15 course students (we had around 40
in Cagliari) but the people here are all way awesome! We've met a ton of them in just a couple days.
They are super stellar and love the missionaries. We've eaten three meals with
members since arriving on Thursday. Crazy! And they feed you too much. But it's so, so yummy. You guys. The food is so good here. It's
awesome!
The first day we did a lot of planning and
reading of notes and calling people. It's
a pretty big undertaking to figure out a city, learn the members’ names, figure
out who we are teaching and what people we are working with, and the hardest
part…how to get to all their houses. (Remember I’m the girl who called her mom
crying at 16 years old because she got lost driving home from the dry
cleaners....hahaha). But Sorella Embley
is awesome and we are figuring it out together and it's way fun. We have already seen miracles! Like Lolanda. She's from Poland and was a number in our
phone. We called her and turns out she's
been missing the missionaries and hadn't seen them for almost a year! We went to her house and got to talk to her
and teach her. She is a sweet lady and we are excited to keep working with her.
She told us, "You know, every time that life is hard, and I feel like I
need help, the Sorelle always show back up again!" It's also a blessing for Sorella Embley
because Lolanda is a foreigner so she is easier to understand. We are stoked to keep working with her.
Today for pday we went to a graveyard....I know
that sounds way weird. But it's the
second biggest cemetery in Europe and it was craaaazy cool! I'll send some pics and videos. Today we also bought fruit from the craziest
fruit market ever. Everyone was yelling
and trying to get people to come to their fruit stand in crazy ways. So funny.
The fruit here is yummy and cheap! Finally!
So yeah! Life
is so good. Mom I know you're going to
want more details...will you just ask me some questions in the next email? Oh the apartment, it's small but great . And a
huge, huge blessing because it has air conditioning. You guys it's soooooo hot
here. You can't even imagine. That's why my hair is always up because it's like
not possible to have it down. Haha. But yeah we have the ac going at night and
I'm sleeping so good. My Cagliari apartment didn't have ac so this apartment is
golden!
I can't believe we now have two missionaries in
the immediate family. Wow. Elder Brunson and Sister Brunson! Ahhhhh it makes me so happy. Congrats Ty, you are about to do the best
thing you have ever done in your life. I
wish I could be in his place and still have two years left of learning,
teaching, and adventuring. Six months is too short! I know this church is true. Heavenly Father
leads and guides His work. I'm thankful
He has allowed me to be part of it!!!
Siete bravissimi e vi voglio bene!
Love,
Sorella Brunson
