Hey tutti!                                                                                               Monday, March 16, 2015

So this week was good-great-greater than great.  Missionary work is the coolest.  Here are some bullet points for y'all.

-We have TWO NEW INVESTIGATORS THIS WEEK. whooo hooooo. Valentina and Elisabeta.  I’m not sure how to spell Elisabetas name in Italian...but she’s super cool!  Elisabeta is around 50 and has one son.  We found her on the bus!  She has studied a bunch of languages and is really intelligent.  She said we could come to her house and teach her!  We went on Saturday and it went really, really well.  She’s a classic sard woman, super duper short, really cute.  She also has this nuttso puppy.  Sorella Mazzarella loved her...me....well.....yeah. haha not so much. There are so many dogs here.  Literally everyone and their dog has a dog....ok that phrase doesn’t exactly work there.  haha. Elisabeta is great. Valentina is 23 and super swag.  I think I talked about her last email? But I can’t remember.  We taught her about the Book of Mormon.  She’s a little hung up on the Nephi killing Laban thing.  But she has been reading a lot so speriamo bene!

-This Wednesday we took a ROAD TRIP up to Sassari. whooo hooo. It was supa good.  We drove up to Oristano for district meeting, and then drove the rest of the way up to Sassari.  The Aniziani took us.  It was so weird to be in a car for that long, blew my mind a little bit, but it was way fun.  I ate way too much black licorice haha.  Both the aniziani here like it!  Up in Sassari I got to do a scambi with Sorella Tapia. We got to teach three lessons together, it was fantastic.  I love teaching lessons.  I wish I could wake up and have a lesson every hour until I went to bed. haha.  Sassari looks like Cagliari but is just smaller and more countryside...I really should have taken pictures...but I forgot.  Sorry!  We stayed with all the Sorelle in Sassari that night.  I ate horse meat!  I sent you guys a little postcard about it.  I hate to say it..but black beauty tastes pretty good......don’t hate me.

-We went to Brazil this week! haha not really.  But we got to go to the house of a less active who is Brazilian.  She’s WAY COOL.  My night in Brazil was fantastic.  We watched the restoration film with her and her 4 year old daughter. The Spirit was super duper strong and we really think that she is going to come back to church. YES.

-There are a lot of people in our ward that live really far away and haven’t been to church in a while...this week we sent one a letter. hahahha.  Sounds lazy, I know but literally these people live like an hour away and their phones don’t work!

-This month is "America month" at McDonalds.  Is that a thing there too? Hah.  We went to McDonalds and they have a "peanut butter milkshake" especially for this month. It’s really just a chocolate milkshake with some peanuts thrown in it. haha.  I’ll be excited when these Europeans understand the concept of peanut butter.  They have a burger from different states, Louisiana burger, Texas burger, etc.

-We had a lesson with Gabriella this week and we were talking about baptism.  I was talking and said, "In our church, we do baptism in the same way that Jesus Christ was baptized".  As I said it, the Spirit just really confirmed to me how awesome of a statement that is.  We baptize the way that Jesus Christ was baptized!  Idk, it just really, really hit me this week. The church is true!

-We talked to some people from Chicago this week!  They are here visiting their son who married an Italian and is a dentist.  They were super cute.  They were also soooo hard for me to understand.  I don’t know what my problem was but I was straining so hard to understand them. They were cool though!  Do Chicagoans talk weird or am I just going nuts?

-We got a taste of what Sardegna is like in the summer this week.  A cruise ship came into port.  There were SO MANY PEOPLE here. ohhh my gosh.  It blew my mind.  I can’t imagine what it’s gonna be like in the summer.

-This week we were walking by a man who was digging through the dumpster and he yelled "WHOOOOOO" at the top of his lungs and scared me half to death.  Sorella Mazzarella thought it was super funny haha.  People are always honking at us for no reason!  And it scares me every stinkin time.

-The cool thing of next week…Mission Conference!!!!!!!!  We are going to Rome.  We are taking an overnight ship.  We leave here at 5 on Thursday and arrive in Rome in the morning.  Then we take a ship back to the island Friday night. I’m so excited to go to Rome, have a conference, and see some of the mission friends.  This conference is just for us, Rome East stake and another place...so it’s not the whole mission.  When Anziano Bednar comes it will be the whole mission.  But I’m super excited to listen to the conference and also see some of Rome again!  AHH it’s like going home.

Spiritual thought:  I’ve been studying Charity and love this month.  Its super, duper important to have charity and love. Let me tell you, it’s not always easy.  But one of the things I love about charity is the importance of seeing others with divine potential.  Sometimes we are tempted to see people as they are, and not as they can become.  So...a CHALLENGE…because that’s what missionaries do.  I can almost guarantee there is someone in your life who you really struggle to like.  I want you to pray for them this week!  Pray your guts out for them!  And I promise promise promise, that as you do your part to try and love everyone; Heavenly Father will help you overcome hard feelings you have for others. You don’t have to be best friends with everyone, but as Elder Holland put it, "I may not be my brother’s keeper, but I am my brother’s brother."
I love you all un sacco.  I hope this week is full of miracles and happiness. The gospel of Jesus Christ is here for us to enjoy!  Also I guess I’m part of the Union ward now?  Don’t know how I feel about that.... probs I’ll always be a Southgater at heart but va bene. Union ward it is!

VI VOGLIO BENENENEENENENENENEN
