Hellooooooo everyone, Monday,
November 24, 2014
Sorry If I sounded discouraged last week. It
turns out sometimes missions are hard. haha but I promise I’m still happy
and wonderful! (I was last week too, pinky swear.)
Allllrighttyyyyy. Our week started off
with TWO BIDONES…in a row. Those things are sad haha. (note: from
what we can tell bidones are either “stood up” or “thrown out”)
That was followed nicely by....a broken washing
machine! Our washing machine was sloshing around the clothes and really
doing nothing it should have been doing. We called it to repentance and
the Anziani came over and fixed it. While doing that they also fixed our
fridge, which was broken as well. hahahaha I love our apartment. Ok
that might be a little sarcastic.
This week I had an AWESOME scambi (exchange)
with Sorella Dew. This is her first transfer. SO it was me and Sorella
Dew riding solo in Ladispoli for 24 hours. haha I was a little worried
seeing as I was the most experienced out of two of us..... yikesaroonie. but we
had a ton of fun because Sorella Dew is awesome. We taught THREE LESSONS.
In ITALIAN. We taught a family for the first time and they said they want
to take the lessons! YES! So the Padivani family (that’s spelled wrong) are
our new investigators for the week. WHOO HOOOOO. That night we came
home to find a sign on the door outside of our apartment.... and I couldn’t
really understand what it said because it was a lot of words I didn’t know and
obviously Sorella Dew didn’t know them either. So I called the anziani
and they didn’t really know either. haha I knew it said something about
turning off our gas though for something they were doing tomorrow. So I did
that. The next day we woke up bright and early (well, 6:30, like always
haha) and at 10 headed out to teach a lesson. All the sudden this worker
guy is talking to me and saying that I can’t leave because he needs to fix our
gas. And I was like 1) our gas isn’t broken and 2) We have an
appointment. So he said he could wait a bit. We came back and he
fixed our gas. Apparently the sign said "please remain at home
tomorrow so some men can come and fix your gas" hahaha would that ever
happen in America?!?!!?!?! anyway the guy fixed our gas. He stood
on the balcony and started sawing things like a crazy man. Then he
started SMOKING WHILE he was fixing our gas pipe. Sigh..It reminded me and Sorella
Marquis of Zoolander. hahahahha but that all got worked out thank
goodness.
Funny story. I didn’t ACTUALLY go get
coffee with a guy from Bangledesh but he DID ask me to. I was talking to
him and he was like (he spoke English) "You drink coffee?" and I was
like "No I don’t." then he said "what do you drink?" and I
was like.... "hot chocolate" and he was like "ok. We go get
some." hahahha I was tempted for two seconds..... JUST KIDDING. He
also asked me for my address so he could put it on his papers to try and get to
America. I was tempted for two seconds....haha kidding again.
Anyway we worked hard this week. Our
investigators aren’t super duper progressing but we love them to pieces
anyways. We will hopefully grab some new ones soon! I love helping
people, even when it’s tough.
Sorella Marquis has TWO WEEKS LEFT. So
crazy! We have been having so much fun. I’m excited for her to
party it up in Utah and see her fam. Just know that I have been given a
delightful trainer.
Coming up this week in LADISPOLI: Thanksgiving
party on Thursday. Happy Thanksgiving this week! What are the
plans? When we told English course we were having a thanksgiving party to
talk about being thankful they were like, "Thankful for WHAT!?!"
hahaha good thing we’re doing this party, eh?
When I read in the Bible about Moses holding up
the serpent I used to think it was ridiculous. I thought "How is it
possible that they would sit and complain and be dying of illness but not look
at the stick?" I really had a hard time believing it. But it’s CLEAR
AS CRYSTAL to me now. I am Moses. I listen to people who are sad
and depressed and don’t know what to do. Then I tell them all they have
to do is follow Jesus Christ. But they won’t look at the stick! It’s
a very interesting metaphor. I am thankful though to be here. I am
thankful to at least try my very best to cure some people. And if one
person "looks at the stick" at least that’s better than none, eh? Being
a missionary is fantastic. I love you all! Also a shout out to the
Otte family. Got an AWESOME letter from them this week!!!!!!!!
Carter, I’m thankful for the money. It’s a great feeling to be so rich.
All extended family members, you are AWESOME. Thanks so much for everyone’s
prayers. I feel them, let me tell ya!!!
Have a great thanksgiving! Remember to be
thankful for EVERYTHNG but especially for Jesus Christ. Through Him, we
can truly be saved. All we have to do is follow!
Lots of love,
Sorella Brunson
