Hello Family and Friends, Monday,

Baptism: I’m sorry to hear about the nose
incident but I’m so excited that EMMA IS BAPTIZED. I’m bummed to miss
it. I’m glad she liked the locket and the card. I’m glad the card
made it in time too! Sister Goates is the coolest. Emms, congrats
babe.
Amanda districts: AHHH I FREAKED OUT WHEN I SAW
THAT SHE MADE IT TO BIGSSSS!! Literally I put my hands up high in the air
and did a little victory dance. And that’s a super duper stellar time as
well. Amanda you rocked it!
Halloween: Emma looked like a gem. A
total cutie. I’m glad she had a fun date with Leyton haha.
Kevin D, I am sending you a letter when I go to
Rome today!
Sarah Schwab is back. Tell her I said
hello pleeeeasseee.
Mom, Sorella Waddoups doesn’t like the term
"dying" either. hahah It’s mission lingo. It’s how we survive.
Alrighty. Time for life in the mission
field.
First off, funny story.
Last pday we were chilin in Rome and these Anziani
walked into the room with this bag. I was like "Anziano Jorgensen,
what’s in the bag?" and he was like "shots." And I was
like, "the shots you put in your arm!?!?!?!" Apparently they had gone
to the pharmacy to ask for flu shots. They gave them the shots. In
a bag. Like 30 flu shots!! hahahahs sooooo funny. Welcome to Italy.
I’ll explain English course. It’s every Tuesday
and Thursday from 7:30-8:30 at the church. We follow a program the church
has developed. Each week we have a poster
that has words and phrases to learn. This week, for example, the topic was
"inside your house" so we taught them about what is inside their
house. We had them label a picture of a house and played jeopardy with
house items. It was fun! We have about 30 students. Almost
all of our investigators come from English course. When we do finding we
normally go around talking to people about English course. We say, "We do
a free English course every Tuesday and Thursday, if you’re interested"
and then we talk to them from there. We start English course with a
prayer, and end with a spiritual thought. It’s fun because you get to
know the students that come pretty well, and get to hang out with them. It’s
kind of like hanging out with your friends...in the mission...hahahaha.
This week one of the English course students called a vacuum an "electric
broom" which was pretty funny.
Something weird, I realized this week that the
priests blessing the sacrament are kneeling. For some reason I always
thought they were looking under the table so they could read the card with the
scripture on it. I never made the connection they were kneeling.
So....uh....you learn new things every day hahaha.
Also this week we were praying as a
companionship and I said the spirit was a "belisimo donna" which
means beautiful women. I meant to say "belisimo donna" which
means beautiful gift. hahaha ooooooppppps.
Halloween: We had fun for Halloween! During
pronzo we had a party with the Anziani under our apartment complex. I’ll
send pictures. We carved pumpkins! and
ate candy.
Ok, some information about how our work is
going here in the good land of Italy. It’s really hard, I won’t lie to
you. Missions. Are. Hard. but they are sooo goood toooo. Goodness it’s impossible to describe.
This week we didn’t get to see Paola and Anna too much. It was Paola’s
birthday, so that made things crazy. Sometimes it’s frustrating though because
they wanted us to go out to eat Chinese with them on Friday night. We
were like, "WE WANT TO TEACH YOU A LESSON, NOT EAT CHINESE FOOD"
hahaha. It might sound weird that I would rather teach a lesson than eat free Chinese
food. But it’s really true.
Domenica came back from her vacation this
week. Finally! And she came to church yesterday. Having an
investigator in church is great, but it’s also stressful, especially because it
was Fast Sunday haha. It’s kind of like a scary movie when you know
something is going to jump out at you but you don’t know when. But
Domenica liked it so that was good. Tonight we have a lesson with her and
an FHE with a member in the ward.
Dara is the 12 year old, she didn’t make it to
church but she is still the cutest thing ever. We are hoping to see her mom
this week while Dara is at school, so we can teach her.
Idda is our new investigator; she really wants
to be hipster. She’s been living with her boyfriend for like 30 years but
they have never got married. She just doesn’t like going with the flow.
But being Mormon here is hippster! So hopefully we can keep
teaching her.
We are teaching a woman named Rebecca and her
husband Reda. They are AWESOME. We ate with them this week, it was deeelicious.
They are both looking for work and are pretty stressed. But they found
some work in Milano so they are going to be up there for two weeks.
This week we met this lady who is a refugee
from Lybia! Her story is craaazy. She is Muslimish so we are kinda
just friends with her right now.
It’s really hard for me to "tell you more
about investigators" because so much happens every day. But
hopefully that synopsis helped a little bit and didn’t bore you to death.
I love those people. I love them soo much it’s crazy. All I want for them
is happiness, peace, and comfort. I want them to have a relationship with
their Heavenly Father. I want them to know they are loved, and that they
have a Father in Heaven looking out for them. I want EVERYONE to know
that! It’s really interesting because so
far, I have spent my entire mission telling everyone the exact same thing.
Read, pray, and ask.
And that is what the prophet and apostles tell
us at conference.
Read, pray, and ask.
It’s so simple! Reading the Book of Mormon
is literally so easy, but it’s SO HARD to get anyone to do it. Also praying is
so simple, but it’s SO HARD to get anyone to do it.
Read, pray, go to church, keep the
commandments. It’s not rocket science here people hahaha.
I don’t know how I have lived without Italy and
the people here. I don’t know how I lived 19 years without knowing the
members in the ward in Ladispoli, or the people that I have been
teaching. They are so wonderful. Also, I don’t know how I have
lived 19 years without gelato, ‘cause seriously that stuff is SUPER good!
I love you all! Keep on kickin.
Till next week
vi voglio bene,
Sorella Brunson
